At CloudSpendGuard, we value your trust and are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect your data when you use our platform. By accessing or using our services, you agree to the terms described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Cloud Platform Data

When you connect your Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure account, we collect only the data necessary to provide our services, including:

  • Resource and project IDs needed to manage budgets and enable automated shutdowns
  • Current billing data to display to you for budget tracking

We do not access or collect sensitive data unrelated to managing your cloud budgets.

1.2 Authentication Data

We use Clerk to manage authentication and collect:

  • Your email address for creating and managing your account

1.3 Payment Information

Payments are processed through third-party services such as Stripe or Creem. While we do not store sensitive payment details, we may access limited transaction information (e.g., successful payment status) to manage your subscription.

1.4 Usage Data

We may collect non-personalized usage data, such as:

  • Feature usage patterns to improve our service
  • Logs of interactions with the platform to troubleshoot technical issues

1.5 Communication Data

When you contact us via email or other communication channels, we may collect:

  • Your name and contact details
  • The content of your inquiry or feedback to address your concerns

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Monitor your cloud usage and enforce spending limits
  • Provide real-time notifications and alerts regarding your budgets
  • Securely process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Improve platform features and fix potential technical issues
  • Communicate updates, changes, and support responses

We do not use your data for advertising or share it with third-party advertisers.

3. How We Share Your Information

We only share your information under the following conditions:

3.1 With Service Providers

We share limited data with third parties to perform essential services, including:

  • Clerk: For authentication and account management
  • Stripe/Creem: For payment processing

3.2 Legal Compliance

We may disclose your data if required to comply with legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests by public authorities or court orders.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Data Storage

  • Authentication data is securely stored in Clerk
  • Budget and alert-related data are stored in Supabase PostgreSQL

4.2 Security Measures

We use industry-standard security measures to safeguard your data, including:

  • Encryption during data transmission

  • Regular security audits and updates to our infrastructure

4.3 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as you use our services. Once your account is deleted, we permanently remove all associated data from our systems.

You have the following rights regarding your data:

5.1 Data Access and Portability

You can request a copy of the data we've collected about you at any time.

We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking purposes.

7. Children's Privacy

Our platform is intended for users aged 16 and above who are professionals or learners in cloud technologies. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

8. International Data Transfers

If you access CloudSpendGuard from outside the country where our servers are located, your data may be transferred across borders. These transfers comply with applicable data protection regulations.

9. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If significant changes are made, we will notify you via email using the address you provided during registration. We encourage you to periodically review this policy to stay informed about how we are protecting your data.

10. What Happens If a Budget Fails to Cap Your Spending?

While we rely on cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Azure) to report billing data, delays in their systems may result in slight overages beyond your set budget. For instance, if you're running an EC2 instance at $5/hour and your budget is $100, your bill may reach $105–$120 before we receive and process the data to shut it down. We act as soon as the platform provides the billing alert.
